Talan Stephen Skeels-Piggins
Paralympian, World Champion & Royal Navy Veteran
Talan Stephen Skeels-Piggins is a British Paralympian, double motorcycle World Champion, inspirational speaker, author, mentor, and resilience expert whose life and career redefine the limits of possibility. After a motorcycle accident in 2003 left him paralysed from the chest down, Talan set an audacious goal to return to elite sport, and within seven years he represented Great Britain at the 2010 Winter Paralympics, finishing as the top British male in the Giant Slalom and Super-G sitting events.
A former Royal Navy Lieutenant and PE teacher, Talan went on to become European Champion in Super-G, and made motorsport history as the first paraplegic to earn an ACU racing licence and compete against able-bodied riders. He won multiple 600 cc motorcycle World Championships in the paralysed category, demonstrating elite performance across disciplines.
Talan founded The Bike Experience, the world’s first charity dedicated to helping motorcyclists with physical impairments ride again, empowering hundreds with confidence and independence. He is also the author of The Little Person Inside, a children’s book designed to inspire self-belief.
As a public speaker, Talan delivers keynote talks on resilience, leadership, mental strength, and overcoming adversity to corporate, educational, and community audiences across the UK and internationally. In addition to speaking, he mentors elite athletes through organisations such as The True Athlete Project and Finito, combining lived experience with practical performance insight.
Talan’s journey from recovery and reinvention to Paralympic competition, motorsport breakthroughs, charity leadership, and motivational storytelling exemplifies the power of resilience, determination, and perseverance.
