Sue Bell OBE

CEO and Clinical Director of Kids Inspire

Sue Bell, OBE, is the CEO and Clinical Director of Kids Inspire, and the driving force behind its sister organisation, Inspire Wellbeing Services, a private arm that extends therapeutic support and training while reinvesting surplus to sustain vital children’s mental health services. Sue has over three decades of hands-on experience working therapeutically with children, young people, families, and professionals.

From her early career as a teacher and counsellor, Sue recognised significant gaps in support for traumatised and distressed young people. In 2007, she founded Kids Inspire to provide bespoke, family-inclusive mental health and trauma recovery services, offering therapy, mentoring, training, and community support that keeps “the child at the centre.” Under her leadership, the charity has grown to over 300 paid and volunteer practitioners and has transformed thousands of lives across Essex and beyond.

Her contributions to children’s mental health and community wellbeing have also been formally recognised. She was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to charity, mental health, and education, and appointed Deputy Lieutenant for Essex, reflecting her public service and commitment to community impact. Sue’s work continues to influence practice, policy, and community responses to emotional wellbeing across education, health, and social care sectors.
