LatinaTechies
Sandra Galvis is the Co‑Founder and Executive Director of LatinaTechies and the Founder of UpskillSherpa AI. Her career has been shaped by a belief in the power of community-led learning and the conviction that technology should uplift and include. After two decades in corporate America, most recently at Microsoft, leading global programs in partner incentives, customer experience, and learning and development, Sandra transitioned into EdTech to create spaces where underserved voices, especially those of Latinas, could access the tools and confidence to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.
LatinaTechies was founded as a grassroots initiative in 2019, providing support, upskilling, and coaching to Latinas interested in pursuing tech careers. By 2024, Sandra formalised the organisation as a nonprofit alongside co-founders Cristina Sanabria and Maria Mendiburo, PhD. Under her leadership, LatinaTechies has grown into a vibrant, mission-driven community with structured programs, strategic partnerships, and a focus on long-term career development. Sandra has guided the organisation’s evolution with a systems-thinking approach rooted in empathy, equity, and lived experience.
In 2025, Sandra launched UpskillSherpa AI, a learning platform that helps professionals reinvent themselves using AI-enhanced development tools. Her goal is to make transformation accessible, human, and enduring. Drawing on her background in training, coaching, and process improvements, she designs learning experiences that are both strategic and personal. For Sandra, learning is not just a skill, it’s a path to agency.
Sandra’s multidisciplinary career spans government, logistics, operations, adult education, and nonprofit leadership. She has led workshops on AI fluency and ethical tech, and developed upskilling pathways for women at pivotal career moments. Whether mentoring first-generation professionals or designing AI strategy sessions, Sandra brings warmth, rigour, and a fierce commitment to inclusion.
Today, through LatinaTechies and UpskillSherpa AI, Sandra continues to build futures at the intersection of identity, innovation, and community. Her work challenges traditional gatekeeping in tech and reimagines learning as a collective act of empowerment, centred not just on access, but on dignity, confidence, and belonging.
