Amit Chopra
Former Principal Technical Program Manager at Microsoft

Born in Delhi to refugee parents who lost everything during the Partition of India, Amit grew up in a modest two-room flat, raised on resilience, sacrifice, and an unshakable belief in the power of education. A quiet, anxious child, Amit first dreamed of becoming a chef until Star Trek sparked a lifelong fascination with technology. That passion led him to write code as a teenager, hack his school’s grading system, and eventually become one of the youngest employees at Microsoft India during the launch of Windows 95.

Over the next three decades, Amit led teams across India, Singapore, Australia, and the US, building groundbreaking tech solutions and winning global hackathons. But it was his experience with community-led programs at Microsoft that truly shaped his ethos. Volunteering alongside VPs and engineers, he saw first-hand how shared purpose could bridge hierarchy and create meaningful change.

Today, Amit combines his technical acumen with a calling to give back. Whether mentoring students through Micro:bit Adventures or teaching coding to underserved communities, he’s committed to paying it forward. His debut book Portfolio of Happiness and upcoming TED Talk both echo his core message: success is measured not in wealth, but in the lives you touch and the legacy you leave behind.
